Today the family of Ntate Phasha, his friends, and the Community of Mabopane laid to rest Ntate Phasha, our legend. The Tshwane legends were also there.
We wish the family peace in this time of loss. They must know that we too have esperienced a terrible loss.
In a football sense, Ntate Phasha leaves behind his trusted colleagues in Tshwane Legends. In fact, in the whole of Legends countrywide.
One thing he does not know, or maybe he does whereever he is, is that he has brought together three generations of SAFA Tshwane successive Presidents in one place.
In this picture we have more than 20 years of successive SAFA Tshwane Presidency experience in Mr. Sebapo, Mr. Mooka and Mr. Mohlabeng. They all had one or other relation with Ntate Phasha. And because of that, he brought them all in one place.
Ntate Sebapo (front row, left corner) is currently the Honorary President of SAFA Tshwane. He was President of Gauteng North Football Association for many years before it converted to being SAFA Tshwane. In fact, he facilitated the transition before he handed over the Presidency to Mr. Mooka. Mr. Mooka (front row, centre) is the previous SAFA Tshwane President (2006 – 2019). He also used to be President of SAFA Gauteng and a member of the SAFA NEC before he was suspended and eventually dismissed by SAFA. Mr. Mohlabeng (back row, right corner) is the current President of SAFA Tshwane since 2019.
Mr. Mooka fought, and cntinues to fight a good fight by using the South African criminal justice and legal systems to bring the allegedly corrupt SAFA officials to account. He opened a case of corruption against Dr. Danny Jordaan for curruption. The case is still being investigated.
Mr. Mohlabeng is also fighting a good fight of bringing the SAFA leadership to account. For his troubles, he was removed from the Congress of the 26th of March 2022 for raising a point of order.
Ntate Phasha’s family must know that he had a big family outside his very own. And we would like to thank the footballing community of Mabopane for rallying behind him and ensuring that his legacy leaves on. We especially would like to thank Mr. Sello Ramabya for continiously shining his light without fail.
We would like to urge the Tshwane legends to not forget the dreams that Ntate Phasha had towards football for the young people of South Africa, that he never thought could materialise because of the kind of the leadership we have in football. They must remember that the posibility of such dreams materialising are now there through young, visionary and vibrant leadership of Mr. Mohlabeng. This is a new crop of leadership that can help bring football back to the hands of the people of South Africa.
The Legends must remember that although the leaderhip crop is here, there will be a lot of obstacles ahead. We need all hands on deck. Their experience and knowledge is a weapon that this battle cannot be won without.
We all need to fight to make this happen. Some of us may loose their lives in the course of the struggle, and let such lives NOT be lost in vain.
So the Legends must also stand up, mobilise, and get the message across to all football stakeholders who have a say on the matter.
We believe that Ntate Phasha would have wanted to be the change that he wanted to see now that it is posible to do so. It is a pity that this kind of development comes at the time of his departure from this world.
Our promise to him, and those who also have sadly left us before the dream could be realised, we will not rest until football is back to the hands of the South Africans. We will not rest until South Africans have conquered Africa. We will not rest until South Africans are regarded as worth challengers in the global space.
To him we say, as we walk on this path, we wish you a safe path back to the source. You have lived your life, fought your battle, made your mark, and made your creator proud. Hamba kahle Legend. May your soul rest in peace.
