We are on the eve of the planned NEC meeting scheduled for January 25, 2025. We ask ourselves, will this meeting happen?
We read news reports that there is an NEC faction that seeks Danny’s resignation and to get Irvin Khoza to act as the President for the time being. We, however, know that this is a very small faction within the entire NEC. Nonetheless, we also know that Danny is uneasy going to a meeting where there are strong views that oppose him. We know that he would rather take time to neutralize the threat prior to the meeting so that he goes into the meeting with confidence. As such, we are not sure if he has managed to neutralize the threat. But we also have not heard of any cancellations yet since this meeting was confirmed in December already.

We encourage the NEC to proceed with the meeting regardless of the shenanigans. We strongly request that they exercise their fiduciary duties appropriately, whatever these are, for the sake of SAFA’s governance and South African football.
