After being pressured by SAFA NEC based on what is believed to be an improper Congress Resolution to hold elections before the end of May, SAFA Tshwane decided to hold its elections on the 28th of May 2022.
SAFA Tshwane would ordinarily hold its Quadrennial Congress in November, also stipulated in its Constitution. The elections were going to be held then.
After consultation with the legal council on the matter, SAFA Tshwane was advised to comply with the ilegal request whilst adding this onto its dispute with SAFA National.
The region also took its Members into confidence on why it had to rush the elections, for which all its Members understood and lent their support on the circumstances.
The elective Congress was held on the 28th of May 2022 at the University of Pretoria. The outcomes were was follows:
- President: Solly Mohlabeng. Mohlabeng retains his previous position for the second term and unopposed.
- 1st Vice President: Rebecca Morudu. Josias Phahla made way for Rebecca Morudu from Akasia. Rebecca was unopposed.

- Additional Member 3: Sizwe Nkosi. Nkosi makes a debut entry in the regional structures as an Additional Member. Nkosi previously served as a Chairperson of Phelindaba Local Football Association.
The previous Additional Members, Ms Sheila Lehlabi, Mr. Mandla Phiri and Dr. Tshepo Lichaba were not available for election for this term.
We wish all the new Regional Executive Committee well in their term, understanding the kind of challenges that are facing them. We urge them to support their President, Solly Mohlabeng in his endeavours to lead SAFA, and all the challenges that SAFA is throwing back at him as hurdles. The most important thing is to always remember their mandate towards the development and promotions of football through LFAs and clubs.
We also like to thank all the outgoing Regional Executive Committee members (including Pearl Mosoane and Fish Francis) for the sterling work that they have done, It shall not be forgotten. A high standard bar has been set, let us not dare drop it.
SAFA Tshwane will continue to lead by example on the transparency and compliance in operating the region. Just after the elections on the day, the newly elected Secretary of the region released the following message:
To all Tshwane LFAs, thank you. To Solly Mohlabeng we say: Alluta Continua
